Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) conducted an awareness campaign on bribery and corruption and good governance for the officials and field officers of the Udubaddawa divisional secretariat in Kurunegala district on 10th October 2012.
Among the topics discussed were ways and means of identifying acts of bribery and corruption in administration, how anti – corruption initiatives can be formulated and how corruption can be to minimized. Further, two TISL products, the ‘Citizens Handbook’ and the Manual on Land issues’ were distributed among the participants in order to educate them on services rendered by the divisional secretariat. TISL members briefed the officials on ‘Suseri Sevana’. the Advocacy and Legal Advice Center too.
D.A Nayanananda, Divisional Secretary of Udubaddawa, S.P.N. Priyanjith Abeysekara, Assistant Secretary – Planning & S G N Priyanjith Abeysekera were among the key officials who participated. A.K.Chandrakantha, former Deputy Director General – CIABOC and Ananda Jayasekara, Media Officer TISL were the resource persons.
