Two policemen interdicted for allegedly obtaining bribe

Two police constables who allegedly obtained a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a businessman and later allegedly assaulted him have been interdicted.

The police said that the two law enforcement officers had allegedly obtained the money from the businessman”s bank account by force.

The two policemen were arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division on a complaint received by the DIG in charge of the area.
The police said that at the time of the incident the constables had been assigned to the Borella Police to investigate complaints received on the 119 hotline.
