Transparency International Sri Lanka conducted two day skills training for Addalachchenai Divisional Secretariats Division’s (DSD) Officials in Ampara.
The training was conducted with the objective of contributing to a more efficient public service through enhanced capacity of public officials and local authorities to engage in a participatory development process.
Over 80 DSD officials took part in this programme and sessions were designed in a very participatory manner with group work, games and brainstorming. The themes for the training were selected following a needs assessment that was conducted prior to the design stage of the programme.
While the DSD officials were trained on how to develop their inter personal skills with citizenry and other stakeholders, an emphasis was laid on how improved service delivery and accountability plays an integral part to it.
At the conclusion of the training a common request that came from all officials was to enable them to obtain copies of the Establishment Code of Sri Lanka and Grama Niladhari Charter in Tamil language.
