Senasinghe complains to Bribery Commission

UNP MP Sujeewa Senasinghe today filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) investments in the stock market.

Mr. Senasinghe charged that because of these questionable investments the EPF and the ETF had incurred a loss of Rs.12 billion.

In his complaint he said Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Treasury Secretary P.B. Jayasundera, Nimal Welgama, Mano Ramanathan and Neil Umagiliya were those responsible for this massive loss.

Mr. Senasinghe said he hoped the Bribery Commission would take steps to investigate these questionable investments and punish those responsible.

“We have submitted a legal document to the Bribery Commission to ascertain how and under whose advice and influence these investments were made. We hope the Bribery Commission will direct those found guilty to make good the losses incurred by using their own funds and take legal action again them,” he said.
