Rs. 2.2 m to remove banners etc

Elections Commissioner has allocated Rs 2.2 million for the Police to remove cutouts, banners and posters put up in the run up to the general election in April.

Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake says that he will strictly uphold the law and remove all propaganda material in public after February 26.

The Police on Friday informed the Elections Secretariat that the displaying of propaganda material by the candidates had begun very early and the department would need funds to deploy a huge work force and a large number of vehicles to remove the undermentioned propaganda material after the deadline.
