The Police have banned processions with effect from today. These restrictions will be in place till April 15 according to Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne said.
He added that the restrictions had been imposed according to section 69 of the Parliamentary Act of 1981 and any violators will be taken into custody and dealt with. All police stations have been notified about this law.
In addition, he called on all candidates not to be accompanied by large crowds when submitting their nominations for the parliamentary elections.
