A total of 328 police sergeants petitioned the Supreme Court against the recent promotion of 73 sergeants as sub-inspectors. The petitioners said the 73 promotions were mala-fide.
The petitioners also said they had obtained more marks at the interview and requested the Supreme Court to cancel the 73 promotions and promote the petitioners to the rank of SI.
The IGP and the National Police Commission are among the respondents.
