Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) conducted a training programme for Police officer in Matara District on State land laws and procedures on Saturday 20th April 2013. The programme was held in office of Senior Superintend of Police in Matara.
TISL conducted the workshop on a request made by Senior Superintend of Police in Matara. More than 35 Police officers from the district attended the workshop. Laws pertaining to State lands were the topics presented at the workshop, Land procedures, problems related to the State lands and take over and allocation of unlawfully occupied lands by the Government were the topics discussed at the training.
Police officials agreed to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their day to day official duties in land related issues.
Deputy Land Commissioner of the Department of Lands Asantha Gunasekara , former Deputy Director General of CIABOC A. K. Chandrakantha and Jagath Liyana Arachchi Legal Manager ALAC conducted the sessions. Haritha Dahanayake Brand Manager of TISL also participated in the workshop.
