In spite of the inclement weather, hundreds of residents in and around Polonnaruwa flocked to view the exhibition and participate at the People’s Platform organised by TISL in association with Tamankaduwa Divisional Secretariat on 23 November at the Secretariat complex.
The matters discussed at the People’s Platform centred round the facilities offered by the Divisional Secretariat and the people voiced their opinion on several areas that needed improvement. They also showed a keen interest in the activities done by TISL to combat corruption and promote integrity and good governance.
The officials of the Registration of Persons Department were kept busy with inquiries about obtaining the national identity cards. A large number of applications were collected by the officials for processing. Officials from the Passport Office, Foreign Employment Bureau, Pensions Department and CIABOC were also present to explain and discuss the procedures of obtaining services from them.
