Dharmasiri Lankapeli of the Federation of Media Employees Trade Unions was taken in to custody by Valvetithurai Police Station today after he made a speech at the funeral of late Mr.Velupilla father of Velupille Prabhakaran.
He was questioned and later the police had taken a statement from him. When we contacted the Police station the Officer in Charge stated that Mr.Lankapeli was not arrested and he was summoned to the police station to take a statement. Police had questioned him for speaking at the said funeral using loud speakers. The OIC also stated that permission had not been granted for the use of speakers at the funeral.
