Postal voting of the April 8 general election will be held today and tomorrow, an Elections Secretariat official said yesterday. “We had to reject applications for postal voting as they were either incomplete or received after stipulated date,” the official said.

Postal voting will be held tomorrow and day after tomorrow nearly at 15,000 state and semi state institutions such as SLTB depots, army camps, educational offices and district and divisional secretariats.

A total of 4,15,432 voters have been eligible with 61,678 applications rejected
The Elections Secretariat has arranged facilities for IDPs to cast their votes out of their registered polling station. The duly filled applications must be endorsed by the Grama Niladari and be sent to the Elections Secretariat or to the Asst. Election Commissioners’ offices of respective Districts, the official said.

The Secretariat expects to set up cluster polling stations outside Northern Province and near IDP camps to facilitate IDPs who have applied to cast their votes elsewhere.
