IT Officer

Introduction

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) is a National Chapter of Transparency International (TI), the leading global movement against corruption. TISL raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Overview

TISL is seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Officer to support the IT Manager in ensuring smooth operation of the organization’s technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in computer hardware and software, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage IT-related tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems.
  • Provide first-level troubleshooting and resolution of IT issues for staff.
  • Ensure timely updates and patching of operating systems and software applications.

Office 365 Administration

  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Support user account management, including creation, modification, and troubleshooting.

IT Inventory Management

  • Maintain and update the IT asset inventory, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Track hardware and software usage and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.

Networking and Security

  • Support the IT Manager in monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure.
  • Assist in implementing cybersecurity measures to safeguard the organization’s digital assets.

General IT Tasks

  • Collaborate with the IT Manager on various IT projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure proper documentation of IT processes, procedures, and solutions.
  • Provide training to staff on IT systems and best practices when required.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Education: Full Professional qualifications in hardware and software from a recognized institution or a Degree in IT.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with computer hardware, software, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 administration and usage.
  • Familiarity with IT inventory management practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong Inter Personal Skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong Team Player.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Sinhala or Tamil.
  • Willingness to travel and spend time in TISL offices located out of Colombo.
  • Willingness to work long hours depending on the requirement.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience in providing IT training or user support.
