The Director and Head of Customs Preventive Division has been arrested by the Bribery Commission for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rupees one million. It is alleged that the Director was arrested while accepting a bribe to issue release forms for an imported container of motor spare parts.
It is reported that the suspect had initially demanded a bribe of Rs. 5 million from the businessman; however the businessman had agreed to pay a bribe of Rs. 2 million. The arrest took place while the businessman was handing over part of the bribe which was Rs. 1 million to the Director.
