Electronic media personnel trained on Investigative Journalism

Twenty two journalists from the electronic media participated at a one-day workshop on Investigative Journalism organized by TISL in association with The South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) recently.

The workshop held at the CENWOR auditorium was the first of its kind where electronic media personnel received training on Investigative journalism.

The programme included presentations on Concepts & methodologies on Investigative Journalism, Ethics, Good governance & Role of Media, Investigative Journalism and Anti-corruption, Sources, Challenges of investigative reporting and Right to Information.

Making the presentations were TISL Executive Director J C Weliamuna, Research & Training Editor at Lake House C Dodawatta, Young Asia Television Chief Editor Sharmini Boyle, and TISL’s Dilrukshi Handunetti, Shan Wijethunga and Ananda Jayasekera.

The workshop was also intended to discuss challenges faced by the electronic media in investigating news stories. The relevant information will be incorporated into the Manual & Tool Kit on Investigative Journalism that is being prepared by TISL.
