Electricity Board suffered Rs. 7.4 billion loss: CB report 2009

The Central Bank 2009 annual report has stated that the Ceylon Electricity Board had suffered a loss of Rs. 7.4 billion.

The CEB is indebted to a tune of 71.6 billion rupees it is stated. According to the Central Bank report loans raised from Commercial Banks, fuel taken from the Petroleum Corporation on credit, and for the electricity obtained from the private sector has made the CEB indebted to such an extent.

However, at the end of 2009, the amount of long-term debts of the CEB had amounted to 93.8 billion rupees the report states.
