The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in Sri Lanka Wednesday arrested a district judge while he was allegedly taking a bribe.
Investigation Officers of the Bribery Commission have arrested District Judge of Homagama Sunil Abeysinghe while he was purportedly accepting a Rs. 300,000 bribe from a person in Hanwella area.
The Director General for Prevention of Bribery and Corruption Luckshmi Jayawickrama has told the private Hiru FM radio that the Judge had tried to accept the money from a petitioner of a case to conduct the hearing in a manner favorable to him.
The arrested judge is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate today.
