Anti – Corruption activists meet in Seoul

The annual regional programme of Transparency International’s (TI) Asia Pacific chapters – a three day event to discuss anti-corruption strategies is now being held in the Olympic Parketel Hotel in Seoul, South Korea .

More than representatives from 21 Chapters of the region are attending the conference. The three-day forum provides an opportunity for chapters in the region to meet and exchange ideas on anti-corruption strategies.

The meeting also helps to identify the changing external environment and create and adjust programmes to better address such issues. To facilitate mutual and possible collaboration on progarmmetic issues within the movement is one of the objectives of the meeting.

Delivering the opening address, TI Asia Pacific Regional Director – Sirak Plipat requested the members to identify the trends relating to anti- corruption in the region. He stressed on the need to work towards eradicating corruption in the region.

TI coordinator for Asian countries -Rukshana Nanayakkara, Geo-sung Kim (TI South Korea), Anna Thayenthal and Juho Siltanaen (It Secretariat) also spoke at the opening session.
