School admission should be the sole responsibility of principals and that practice would come into effect with the formation of the new government after the forthcoming parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake said at a function to distribute computers among schools in the Horana electorate.
Handunpelpola Junior school was the 19th school given computers earlier this week. They were donated by Maliban.
The Premier said the well being of a school was entirely in the hands of a Principal and he or she should be entrusted with the responsibility for school admissions. The present procedure of admissions had led to corrupt practices such as forgery and even forcing children to lie at interview boards.
