Seventeen new faces were inducted as members of the Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) at the Annual General Meeting and Members’ Day held on Tuesday, 26 June. Among them are professionals, media personnel, a winner of the National Integrity Award (NIA) and winners of anti-corruption competitions organised by TISL.
Along with other members they participated in a lively discussion on how they can contribute effectively towards the activities of TISL. They interacted with TISL team members on their possible involvement in the areas covering capacity building, advocacy, networking and knowledge generation.
The need for TISL to play a lead role in creating awareness on Right to Information was stressed by Ms Krishali Pinto Jayawardena who pointed out that the accent should be at grass-root level.
The annual general meeting was presided over by TISL Chairman M D A Harold and was well attended.
