Sri Lanka’s Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) is to release its latest report on November 15th with a list of about 200 state institutions that have recorded corruption and malpractices.
COPE Head and Senior Minister D.E.W. Gunasekera has said that the report would be submitted to parliament on November 15th.
The latest COPE report is to publish details about 249 public enterprises that have been inquired by the Committee.
Gunasekera has said that it was up to the government to act on the contents of the report once it is published.
However, he has added that the government must take action against the state officials and institutions that have recorded corruption and malpractices as pointed out by the COPE.
The COPE can only inquire into the allegations raised against public institutions and officials, but cannot institute any action against them.
