Applications close on August 18, Investigative Journalism Training program

The call for applications for the Training of Trainers (ToT) on Investigative Journalism by Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) ends on August 18, 2011.

The training of trainers is designed to transfer knowledge and training skills to a combination of journalists and trainers who will help develop essential skills of journalists including those currently engaged in the craft and other stakeholder groups in their respective localities.

The five- day training workshop will commence on August 24, 2011 at the Pegasus Reef Hotel, Wattala and will conclude on August 28, 2011.

For over two years, Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) has worked closely with Sri Lanka’s journalistic community, recognizing the sector’s vital role in promoting good governance and its function as a message multiplier. TISL has conducted a series of trainings to enhance the capacity of regional journalists in investigative journalism with the support of Freidrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) whereby new networks were created and skills were developed.

Three products exclusively developed for Sri Lankan journalists, namely an investigative journalism resource book, a practitioner’s handbook and a trainer’s guide will be used at this training.
