Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) met with regional journalists recently in Ampara and Polonnaruwa to further validate resource book and a toolkit in investigative journalism. TISL in collaboration with Fedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) will introduce this resource book and the tool kit to strengthen the professionalism in Sri Lankan investigative journalism, both at the national and regional level.
With financial support from FES and the European Union the contents of the two products developed for the first time in Sri lanka, was validated earlier by the industry specialists during a two- day exercise conducted in Colombo.
The resource book and the toolkit were developed for TISL and FES by Mr. Ralph Frammolino, Pulitzer finalist, Consultant World Bank Institute Washington DC and international trainer and teacher in investigative journalism.
Regional journalists from Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Ampara, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala and Badulla took part in the validation workshop which was conducted jointly by Prof. Satyaseelan Thiruvenkatgaswami and TISL IJ team. The regional journalists have requested TISL to conduct programmes throughout the country to train the journalists during the workshop.
