Key Findings of CRC Survey discussed

TISL has successfully completed the Citizen Report Card (CRC)  survey in six Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSD) in the three districts of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Ampara under the EU project ‘Enhancing Demand for Accountability in Local Governance’.

The survey which set out to find the level of satisfaction among the public regarding service delivery at DSD level covered 1950 respondents by way of exit-poll interviews carried out in the six DSD office premises.

Following the analysis of the data collected, the key findings are presently being taken back to the respective Divisional Secretaries and staff for validation, discussion and feedback prior to publication of the final report. So far meetings have been conducted in Nuwaragam Palatha-East and Horowpathana divisions (Anuradhapura District), Addalachennai and Kalmunai-Tamil divisions (Ampara), and Hingurakgoda and Tamankaduwa  (Polonnaruwa). The findings related to aspects such as efficiency of staff, access to information and guidance, facilities at the DSD office and complaint and redress mechanisms in place among others.

Raising awareness with regard to due procedure among both the public and the officials was identified as an urgent need in all the DS Divisions visited, not only to increase efficiency but also to limit opportunity for corruption. The findings of the survey indicated that the malpractices of a few officials have undermined the entire cadre of GNs, who are trying to provide a large range of services with limited facilities and capacity.

  1. Wow!!! It’s nice to see the findings of this CRC survey… I think the findings are very useful to the public as well as to the officials.
    TISL should do this type of surveys in the future too.
