Spl. Teams to curb corruption in Motor Traffic pt.

The Island:   

In a bid to curb corruption in the Motor Traffic Department, the Ministry of Transport has decided to deploy teams of officials, in the vicinity of the RMV offices in Narahenpita and Werahera. These teams will be tasked with arresting touts and fleecing members of the public who visit the offices on legitimate business.

According to Deputy Minister of Transport Rohana Dissanayake touts in league with some corrupt officials are engaged in illegal activities. He said that on checking the driving licenses following motor vehicle accidents, Police, on many occasions have found that the licenses were not genuine.

Dissanayake said: “This is bad trend and should be stopped. Very soon officers from the Transport Ministry would be deployed in the vicinity of motor traffic Department offices in Narahenpita and Werahera and they will be assisted by policemen in mufti.”

  1. Right now if you do good driving or bad you have to pay at least Rs.1500 pass your exam. This is the truth. Additionally learners people also take 1000 during start up of classes to pay the examiner. This should be stopped. I’m guessing these examiners are earning more money per day than an individuals monthly salary. If you have done self driving I was told you have to pay Rs.5000 to the examiner to get yourself passed.!
