Bribery Commission arrested the Divisional Secretary of Siyambalanduwa on a charge of bribery to grant a license for the transport of a load of timber.

Corrupt activities during tsunami
Forty government officials in the South are being investigated by the Bribery Commission on corrupt activities relating to the distribution of cash and goods, and to the grating of houses to tsunami victims. These
include Provincial Secretariat officials, Fisheries officials and Grama Seva niladharis.

A storekeeper of the Sri Lanka Advanced Technological Institute, Galle has been arrested by the Bribery Commission officers for allegedly taking a bribe from a company which supplies equipment to the Institute.
