Education sector leads in the field of charges of bribery with 236 complaints, according to Bribery Commission sources. Among them are 148 principals. Second in the list is the Police department.

Blood Bank director transferred

Police delays arrest
The failure of the Police to arrest Labour Minister Mervyn Silva in spite of a magisterial order “to arrest him immediately” led to strong protests by media organizations who even demanded the resignation of the IGP. Later Mervyn Silva surrendered to court when he was released on bail after severely warning him that the bail would be cancelled should he engage in any unruly acts.
