At least 80,000 dual registrations have been identified on electoral lists in the Western Province with some people registered in more than five districts, sources at the Elections Secretariat said.
The discrepancy had come to light when the Elections Secretariat had renewed the electoral list of 2008, sources said. According to the Secretariat 60, 000 registered voters in the Colombo district, 12, 000 in the Gampaha district and 8, 000 in the Kalutara district had their names registered in more than one district.
