The chief incumbent of the Narangowita Sumanaramaya, Ven. Ratnapure Kolitha Thera has lodged a complaint with the Pitigala Police that Southern Provincial Councillor Chumley Vidanachchi, along with a group of supporters, had abducted him from his Temple on Tuesday night and subsequently poured arrack on him and dumped him at the Pitigala Police Station.
He told The Island yesterday morning that out of fear for his life he spent Tuesday night at the Pitigala Police Station and returned to the Temple the following morning.
He said the Provincial Councillor and his supporters accused him of not casting the preference vote for him.
Pitigala Police had commenced investigations.
