Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) successfully conducted a two-day Multi-Stakeholder Discussion on Participatory Governance and Accountability on October 4th and 5th in Colombo. This event brought together officials from Local Government Authorities (LGAs), community leaders, civil society representatives, and journalists.
The primary objective of the event was to foster an interactive dialogue on the significance of public participation in decision-making processes and the associated challenges. The program included comprehensive training sessions on Participatory Governance, Budgeting, and Proactive Disclosure.
Key participants included Nirupa Manage, Deputy Local Government Commissioner (Southern Province), Secretaries, and administrative officers from ten Local Government Bodies, and representatives from civil society organizations. The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Dharmasiri Nanayakkara, Former Deputy Commissioner of Local Government (Western Province). During this engaging discussion, participants shared valuable insights and experiences, leading to a meaningful discourse on transparency and inclusivity in governance.
Additionally, TISL took the opportunity to launch and hand over the official websites of Akuressa, Dickwella, Bentota, Beliatta, Karandeniya, and Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabhas. These websites, developed with TISL’s support, aim to promote proactive disclosure of information to the public. To ensure sustainability, a training session on website maintenance and content updating was also conducted.

මෙම උත්සවයේ මූලික අරමුණ වූයේ තීරණ ගැනීමේදී මහජන සහභාගීත්වයේ වැදගත්කම සහ එය වටා ඇති අභියෝග පිළිබඳව පළාත් පාලන ආයතන, පුරවැසියන් සහ සිවිල් සමාජ සංවිධාන ඇතුළු විවිධ පාර්ශවකරුවන් අතර ඵලදායී සුහද හමුවකට පහසුකම් සැලසීමයි. එමෙන්ම, සහභාගිත්ව පාලනය, අයවැයකරණය, සහ ප්‍රගාමී තොරතුරු අනාවරණය පිළිබඳ පුහුණුවක්ද මෙම වැඩමුළුවෙදී ලබා දෙන ලදී.
ධර්මසිරි නානායක්කාර, හිටපු පළාත් පාලන නියෝජ්‍ය කොමසාරිස් (බස්නාහිර පළාත), විසින් මෙහෙයවන ලද සාකච්ඡා මණ්ඩපයකට සහභාගී වූ නිරූපා මානගේ, පළාත් පාලන නියෝජ්‍ය කොමසාරිස් (දකුණු පළාත), පළාත් පාලන ආයතන 10 ක ලේකම්වරුන් සහ පරිපාලන නිලධාරීන් සහ සිවිල් සංවිධාන නියෝජිතයන්, ඔවුන්ගේ අදහස් සහ අත්දැකීම් බෙදාහදා ගන්නා ලදී. මෙහිදී පාලනයේ විනිවිදභාවය සහ තීරණ ගැනීමේදී සියලු දෙනා සහභාගී කරවා ගැනීම යනාදිය පිළිබඳව අර්ථවත් සාකච්ඡාවකට ඉඩ සැලසුනි.
ප්‍රගාමී තොරතුරු අනාවරණය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම සඳහා අකුරැස්ස, දික්වැල්ල, බෙන්තොට, බෙලිඅත්ත, කරන්දෙණිය සහ නෙලුව ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා වෙනුවෙන් TISL ආයතනයේ සහයෝගය ඇතිව නිර්මාණය කළ වෙබ් අඩවි දියත් කිරීම සහ අදාළ පළාත් පාලන ආයතන වෙත ඒවා භාරදීම මෙම අවස්ථාවේදී සිදු විය. එම වෙබ් අඩවි පවත්වා ගෙන යාම සහ යාවත්කාලීන කිරීම පිළිබඳ පුහුණුවක්ද ඔවුන් වෙත ලබා දෙන ලදී.
