A man who forged the signature of Panadura District Judge and the Registrar of the District Court on a certified copy of a judgment is to be arrested by the Crime and Fraud Investigation Division of Panadura police. It was alleged that the suspect whose divorce action was still pending used a forged judgement to cheat another young woman and to marry her. However, the woman’s mother who received the suspicious document met the Registrar of the Panadura District Court to verify the authenticity of the certified copy. She told the registrar that the respondent to the divorce action claimed to have obtained the certified copy of the judgment from the District Court.
The Registrar who went through the certified copy found it to be a forged document and immediately informed the District Judge who instructed him to lodge a complain with the Panadura police. The team of investigators under OIC Crimes and Fraud Investigation Division, IP Piyatilleka was conducting inquiries on the instructions of SSP Sumith Edirisinghe.
