‘Grama niladaris’ pledge to combat corruption

‘Grama niladaris’ of Wariyapola and Yakkalamulla Divisional Secretary divisions will provide a more accountable service to the public in the future and keep the people well informed of their service. They pledged to display all the information to the public and mitigate corruption when delivering the services at the end of a training workshop organised by Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL)’s Legal Advice Centre.

The training was conducted to sensitize ‘grama niladaris’ to provide a service with accountability and convince them to act against corruption and malpractices in performing their day to day duties. After the training sessions, they admitted that they were convinced that their role is more important in creating good governance in the lower level of the administrative system of Sri Lanka.

The sessions were conducted by TISL’s D.M.Dissanayake, Jagath Liyana Arachchi, Ananda Jayasekara and Dilshan Weerasinghe.
