Frauds in garment factories
Employees of several owners of garment factories in Panadura are not receiving benefits due to them. Three factories have been closed and the employees have not been paid their provident fund dues. The owners cannot be traced either.

Court wants Golden Key depositors’ list
Ceylinco Group Chairman Lalith Kotalawala has been ordered by the Mount Lavinia magistrate to produce the entire list of those who had deposited money with the Golden Key Credit Card Company. The directors of the Company were asked to report to the CID.

Vacancies 35: Recruited 115
Over a hundred new appointments have been made to the Railway Security Force when there were only 35 vacancies. The 115 new recruits from the three armed forces have been appointed on contract basis.

Chairman arrested
Bribery sleuths arrested the Chairman of Seeduwa-Katunayake Urban Council for soliciting a bribe of Rs 500,000 from an advertising company to renew the lease of a hoarding at the Bandaranayike International Airport roundabout. The suspect had demanded` an advance of Rs.250,000 prior to getting the job done.

Mihin Lanka losing millions again
MIHIN LANKA is flying with barely half full flights causing the airline to run at a loss of over Rs. 1 million per day. Several flights have flown empty with zero passengers leaving the airline
far short of the three million rupees in revenue required per day in order for it to just breakeven.

Former OIC pleads guilty
Former OIC of Wellawatta police station Udith Abayarathna pleaded guilty to charges of bribery in a case filed by the Bribery Commission. He had accepted valuable electronic items and furniture.

JVP MP accuses Government of corruption
JVP Gampaha District parliamentarian Vijitha Herath has accused the government of engaging in rampant corruption, using state including vehicles,state buildings and government officials for the UPFA election campaign on the pretext of fighting a war.
