Giving evidence before the Commission on VAT scam, Inland Revenue chief is quoted as saying that an internal inquiry has yet not been conducted and that officers involved with the racket continue to serve in the department.

Ex-Treasury Secretary summoned
Supreme Court directive summoning former Treasury Secretary Dr P B Jayasundera to testify on 8 October whether he is he still holds public office received wide coverage in almost all the newspapers. Supreme Court had earlier ruled against him in the case of the transfer 90 per cent shares of Lanka Marine Services to John Keels Holdings and eight acres of land.

Bribe taker remanded
A top official of the Petroleum Corporation Kegalle regional office who had been caught
collecting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a petrol station at Alawwa was remanded until 9 October.
